Our Top 3 Canadian Winter Experiences

Experience all the wonders that Canada has to offer in the winter.

When winter falls many of us look to plan an escape to somewhere sunnier but we have some incredible winter experiences right here on our doorstep in Canada. Make the most of our winters and our beautiful country with our Top 3 Canadian Winter Experiences.

Explore the Canadian Rockies in Winter

Truly a Canadian experience like no other, Winter in the Rockies is a sight to behold. Winter activities range from ice skating on the world famous Lake Louise, embarking on a snow shoeing or ice walking adventure through a winter wonderland, and experiencing the 360 degree views of the snow-capped mountain peaks by riding the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain. Stop by the Ice Bar outside the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and grab a warm winter beverage, or experience a Canadian staple: maple taffy. Explore the snow-covered town of Banff, eat a Beaver Tail, and soak away the cold in the Banff Hot Springs or your own hotel’s hot tub!

Go in Search of the Northern Lights

One of the wonders of the world, the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, are best viewed in the winter when the days are shortest and the skies are darkest. Our Yukon trips give you the opportunity to seek out the Lights, while also enjoying adventures such as dog sledding, snowmobiling, and outdoor hot tubbing in Canada’s Great White North.

Ski or Snowboard at the Top of the World

Just two hours north of Vancouver up the beautiful Sea-to-Sky highway lies Whistler, world-famous ski and snowboard resort and co-host (along with Vancouver) of the Winter 2010 Olympic Games. Actually two mountains, Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain offer some of the most amazing skiing and snowboarding in the world, and there are so many places to explore, you can spend days up here and never ride the same run twice. Ride the Peak-2-Peak Gondola and take the Peak Chair to the Top of the World up Whistler on a bluebird day for one of the best views in the world.

While some people are already wishing for spring to come, we’re just hoping we’ll have enough time to do all the things we want to do before winter is over!
